Who I am

Hi I'm Brandon, a Senior Software Engineer with over 6+ years of experience designing and delivering large-scale, cloud-native distributed systems across AWS and GCP. My specialty is infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and DevSecOps, but I have extensive experience writing both front-end UIs and back-end application code across the full stack.

In 2019 I made the daring decision to attend a 6-month intensive coding bootcamp rather than going to a traditional 4-year university. At the time it seemed like a crazy idea, but I knew that I was passionate about coding and knew that I could learn quickly if given the right instruction and environment. Fast forward to today, and I've been fortunate enough to work at some incredible companies ranging from small startups to large enterprises.

Today I focus on building the kind of systems that engineers love working with — high-throughput data platforms, zero-downtime cloud migrations, and CI/CD pipelines that get out of the way and let teams ship with confidence. I care deeply about developer experience and engineering culture: whether through structured mentorship, enforcing best practices, or just making the build green and keeping it that way.

Lead engineer on a high-throughput big data AI streaming platform, designing and delivering multiple features processing millions of events daily while maintaining system reliability and scalability.
Key technical contributor to a complex one-to-many multi-region AWS cloud migration, managing stakeholder communication across cross-functional teams to deliver a zero-downtime cutover with no production incidents.
Established and enforced AWS infrastructure and CI/CD best practices across the engineering organisation, standardising release workflows and measurably reducing deployment failure rates.
